Mise-en-scene means the arrangement of the scenery, props, setting, lighting, hair and make up, actor positioning, costume and body language and facial expression.
The mise-en-scene for stranger things season 1 bring a scary vibe because it is all at night time. Another one is that there is a character in big who looks like she's using a special ability so it may infer that she has superpowers or something along the lines of that. There is a man in a a toxicated suit so maybe a disease broke out. There clothes and bikes connotes that the time is set in a different time.
The mise-en-scene about the photo on the board is that it looks like its been set around the time of halloween so this connotes that it may be scary, mostly because of the darkness and orangeness around where he is. The ferris wheel in the background shows that he's in an amusement park/theme park. He has a cigarette in his mouth so this connotes that he doesn't have very good life choices. The bag connotes that he's going or gone to a place already, and he looks a bit tired so it connotes he's come back.
Editing- transition, pace & special effects.
Includes transitions, pace & speed of cuts, CGI, green screening and graphics. Straight cut, jump cut is when u just jump, cross cutting is used to build suspense, cutaway is when a cut to inform a viewer where u are, montage is when loads of photos or clips are put together to show something over a course of time that u have been working on, match cut is when it follows in to the next frames on the film.
